Fifty and Fabolous

Like I stated earlier in the year, this is the year of milestones for many people. In the continued season of celebrating, Something Blu prepares for a 50 and Fabolous celebration in August. Our special client Veronica wanted something chic, modern and something to truly celebrate her! We definitely received a list of things she didn't want at the party like a microphone! So we made sure to keep that in mind. No roasting of the birthday girl at this party!

The location of choice is the Olympic Collection in West Los Angeles......we will keep you posted on the event! So far things are looking fabolous!!!!

Something Blu is going to Seattle!!

Something Blu would like to welcome the newest addition to our family, Brandi Whitehead and Aaron Day. This couple is modern, chic and most of all great to work with. They will be tying the knot September 2010 in Seattle, Washington.

As SBE prepares to make our way to Seattle next year we met up with the couple for a site visit of the venue and reception site in the city. The weather was great and I got the opportunity to meet family members and others in the wedding party during my visit.
Our bride-to-be has stayed very organized during this engagement process. This always is a big help to a wedding planner because it allows me to have a clear picture of creating a vision for my clients while adding that SBE touch. We are so excited to be working with such  a great couple and can't wait until the big day. Seattle here we come!!

New Year New Blu

Happy New Year everyone! Something Blu has been busy planning, planning and planning. This is the year of  the milestone birthday for many of my clients. We started off the year with a 40th Birthday Celebration. The location was at E3rd Steakhouse in Downtown Los Angeles. This is a new happening location infusing Korean-inspired Zip Fusion style. Our team received the best service and had a great time in the process. Jason and the team at E3rd were fantastic!
Family and friends gathered and danced the night away to the tunes of Mr. Quick. It was a night Damion will never forget...

Step Into Style

Something Blu has been planning a special 60th birthday party for a special client. Yes, its my mom! Claudette turned 60 on December 6th and wanted to have a nice celebration with family and friends! The theme for the soiree was "Step into Style'. Well the theme came from my mothers love of shoes! Ever since I can remember my mother has had the largest collection of shoes that I can remember. From comfortable casual to high fashion couture. Mommy loves those stilletos. So the theme was very fitting!!

The intimate gathering was held at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa in beautiful Monterey, California. The room overlooked the ocean as was just breathtaking. My mom was the lady in red for the evening so the room decor was just fitting. We had a filling meal prepared by their wonderful staff and the "shoe" cake was prepared by the hotel as well.

We had a faboulous slideshow depicting some important moments in Claudette's life (thanks Reggie and Kim! ) and to top off the evening we had a shoe contest! It was a great time and we had some great participants. Some of the guest really stepped out in style. I must say that we had a really awesome time and my mom will remember this day for a long time. Something Blu made sure this client was pleased!!

Season of Giving

Well there are so many things to be thankful for during this upcoming season. Something Blu Events has taken a small break before getting ready for the holidays. Thanksgiving is coming and then Christmas and Happy 2009. Its a time where family and friends and the spirit of giving are on the forefront. With all the hustle of the holiday its important to remember to give.

During the holidays family and friends are often affected by loss. I too lost loved ones during the holidays over the years but my grandmother had such an impact on my life. She lived with breast cancer for many years and I wanted to find some way to give back. Soon after I became engaged I volunteered with "Brides Against Breast Cancer". It was such an amazing experience....since then I have partnered and joined Pink Envelope Project. The Pink Envelope Project TM is a community of good people using creativity and personal initiative to help Making Memories collect as many pink envelope donations as possible to fund the many special memories requested each year. So please look out for a Pink Envelope event sponsored by Something Blu in the near future!!!

Please visit http://www.pinkenvelopeproject.org/ for more information. Something Blu is posing a question: How can you make an impact in 2009?
